So when I came to rent a storage unit here I had no idea what I was doing. However the person working there Jim C. was amazing. He was very knowledgeable in figuring out what size I needed in order to get all my stuff moved in. Even though I was stressed out he put me at ease and made the whole situation simple. Noel is awesome and makes this business 5 stars. This is old school customer service. Helpful, kind, and genuine. I just moved 60 cases of wine seamlessly to my storage unit. He equipped it with racking he mounted while I was out of town. He helped me get the wine close to my destination, and I did the rest. He responds quickly to questions and makes it happen. I have nothing but praise for him. In this world that has forgotten how to treat a customer, he is a refreshing breath of fresh air. And, my unit is awesome because of him. I will be a long term client.

Just rented two storage units here. Best part is the staff, they are super hard working and really friendly. Fairly easy to access your storage and in general this is a cleaner facility than most. Would definitely recommend.

I have rented multiple storage units at the Orleans Street location for over 10 years, and consistently had a great experience. Immediately after being acquired by US Storage Centers a couple years ago, I encountered multiple issues and consistently poor customer service. After several problems and negative experiences, I planned to move my storage elsewhere. However, when I went in to terminate my rental, the new manager Paul was incredibly helpful and resolved my outstanding concerns. He and Korra provided exceptional customer service and problem resolution, and I ultimately decided to keep my storage unit with them. I really appreciate the excellent communication and help Paul provided. It is a great location and I am so glad they now have now have a great staff!

I have had good experiences with US Storage since the company assumed ownership. Everyone has been very helpful with the transition, and I particularly want to mention Noel. Had to store all my things here for the month of January while I was in between leases and the staff was extremely nice and helpful. They were able to show me my storage unit prior to purchase and had locks on site for purchase. Moving my things in and out was smooth as they have three slots for trucks allowing multiple moves to occur at once but during my two moves it was just me. Thank you!!

Professional and friendly!

I stored at Chicago Northside Storage for over three years and had a fantastic experience with Joanne and Humberto. They were always incredibly friendly and had great customer service. Unfortunately, Northside was taken over by US Storage this past summer and there have been disappointing changes. For one, Joanne and Humberto are no longer there. The two new employees I dealt with since the switch were polite and helpful enough in person, but I had poor luck communicating via email. The switch brought significant price increases (25-30%). I was billed some late fees as I was used to autopay and had no idea about the change until a few months after US Storage took over. Thankfully, they took the late charges off but the email correspondence was not prompt and involved multiple people. I had been looking to downsize and potentially move out, but the switch over to US Storage convinced me it was time to go. I now no longer store there but am thankful for the time I had there when rates were lower and Joanne and Humberto were there. The new owner(s) has their work cut out for them. Good luck.

Joanne and the team have been wonderful to deal with when we bring boxes to store unit. They have gone above and beyond to provide extra packing tape, boxes and shrink wrap for breakables. Joanne and Humberto make this place, a safe haven for those looking for storage along with the best customer service one can ask for. From their attention to detail, exceptional level of customer service, and overall great attitude, they always make me feel like I am in good hands. When my wife and I were looking for storage facilities, I remembered Joanne from a few years back when I helped a friend move his things to a unit at Northside Storage, so I gave her a call. She remembered me, and although they didn't have any units available at the time, she continuously followed up with me and was able to accommodate us. She made me feel so confident and built a great rapport, that I didn't even look into other storage facilities. Without Joanne and Humberto, I wouldn't have picked Northside Storage and really stress the importance of their work in making Northside a successful business. One thing to consider would be to give them a nice bonus or raise for their efforts that might go unnoticed by management. They continuously go above and beyond and if they ever left the company, we would move our things out probably. We rent with Northside truly because of the work Joanne and Humberto do and how they approach customers! 5 Stars isn't sufficient to describe the level of customer service you can expect when storing your items at Chicago Northside Storage in Old Town. The reason is both Joanne and Humberto are amazing and always going the extra mile to help. Over the past 4 years, I have stored both wine and housing items at this location. Throughout that time I never had any issues and only experienced the best customer service imaginable. They set the bar so high that it would be foolish to consider another option to store your items. If I was the owner of this business I would pay both of them more because it would be detrimental if they went elsewhere.

Joanne and Humberto make you feel like family - they’re both incredibly caring, kind, and will do anything they can to help you out. They run the facility extremely well, it’s very safe, and prices are great for what you get (free moving truck, free lock, and more). If you’re a wine customer you’re in for a treat - the cave is temperature and humidity regulated and you can even have all of your wine shipments sent directly to Northside for no extra charge (no more waiting at home for signatures!). Can’t say enough wonderful things about Joanne, Humberto, and Northside Storage!

An update! Joanne & Humberto went above and beyond ( as always!) to assist me with transferring more than 100 boxes, plus metal racks from my storage unit to a mover yesterday. This had to be accomplished in a tight time window. Joanne & Humberto provided great suggestions on how to stage the boxes to speed the mover from loading them on the moving truck. And I made my deadline with lots of time to spare! Both Joanne & Humberto combine professionalism with having great personalities. They always make it a delight work with them! I am writing to say that your Old Town location is absolutely the best ever storage location, and you are a great company. Joanne & Humberto set the absolutely gold standard for customer service, professionalism, and assistance. What a delight it is to work with them. Look no further. These guys are the best. I had to go to Chicago on an emergency and had to get a storage unit quickly. We called today because our pick-up storage company canceled on us at the last minute. Joanna was incredibly helpful and so efficient. Great experience for my first time renting storage. The folks at Northside Storage Old Town are honestly the best. I searched for the most affordable storage option and found that they also had excellent facilities and the friendliest, most helpful staff. Jane and Humberto have gone above and beyond to make sure I have a great experience even if I haven't planned ahead and need a little expert assistance. Anyone will have a great experience with them. As for the facilities, my space is very clean, cool, and dry. My space is air conditioned and you'd think I was the first to use it from the condition of the space 12/10 to Jane and Humberto, would recommend to anyone with storage needs.

Perfect experience from move in to move out! They offer so many perks for clients - plenty of flat beds to borrow, a raised dock for easier loading/unloading and a ramp to the front door. We didn’t need it, but there is even a box truck available to clients. Always super tidy too. We placed items in short term storage and the entire process was so seamless and professional while still having the personable family run business aspect when you have questions. Joanne was patient when I first called about a space and the entire team is a delight to say hello to when I popped in to the space a few times throughout the year.

Joanne was literally the nicest and most helpful! Would 1000% recommend. I had a weird situation with my condo closing date and had needed a storage unit as a back up in case the move-in was delayed - they were so flexible and helpful!

I was moving stuff out of my apartment into storage. Generally, I would say moving is an extremely stressful process, but I never expected getting the support that I received from the staff here, in particular Joanna and Humberto. Anything I needed felt accommodated, when I was short handed they helped me load stuff on to dollies and into my unit. They were extremely friendly, helpful, and genuine. I could not thank them enough. My stuff feels safe here, it is very clean and I could not think of a better place to give business to. You guys are great!

This is the pinnacle of customer service - Joanne and Humberto are possibly the nicest humans in the city of Chicago. They welcome you in to the storage facility as if you’re family. It’s clear that customer satisfaction and human kindness far outweigh revenue at this establishment. I feel so fortunate to have come across Northside Storage. I heard about them through a friend who emphasized how wonderful the customer service was and how clean the facility is. My move was a bit abrupt and Joanne was so helpful finding me a unit quickly. The paper work was easy, they provide insurance, and the facility is stocked with dollys, carts, etc. Humberto gave me a tour of facility, explained how their elevators run, and very kindly has helped me several times move some of my boxes to my unit. Excellent service. Clean units. Fair Pricing. Trust the process and Joanne will take care of you. I first reached out to Northside Storage about a month before move in and was connected with Joanne. She is very friendly and detailed on the phone (it is great to talk to a real person instead of an automated system). She told me that she did not have any large units available, 10x15 or larger, as these are in very high demand at the moment, but to check back about two weeks before move-in. She also told me that she would make sure at the very least I would get a bundle of two smaller units within my budget if the larger one did not become available. Come the week of move-in, she delivered. The unit I was provided is clean, freshly painted and much larger than expected. The ceilings in this building are HIGH! Lots of vertical space to fill if you or your movers are skilled at packing. I put a two bedroom apartment in my 10x15 unit and it fits without a problem. The freight elevator is very large and easy to use making moving into my second floor unit no issue. The building as a whole is very well maintained. Come move in day Humberto was very helpful. His skills and service complement Joannes to create a seamless customer experience. While Joanne was helping me process my paperwork in the front office, Humberto got to work showing the movers I hired around the building and provided them with anything they needed to make the move go quickly. The only thing I had to do was check the unit once the movers were done and put a lock on my unit. The teamwork of Humberto and Joanne significantly cut down the amount of time I had to spend moving. I really appreciate how they take care of everything once you are there. Their experience in the industry really shows in the time they are able to save you. Finally Joanne checked all of the latest incentives to make sure that I walked away with the best deal possible. During the final stages of signing the lease agreement she gave me a couple discounts and did not include any fees I was unprepared for. I left feeling that I had paid less than expected. In an industry that can be difficult to navigate with all of the fees, it is great that their pricing is honest and upfront and that they do not try to upsell the customer. 10 out of 10 would recommend to a friend.

We couldn’t have bad a better experience. The truck they provide is huge, which was a life saver. The customer service was exceptional and they even offered us cold water since we moved on a hot day. This is a wonderful storage facility - Humberto and Joanne are super helpful and they go out of their way for me regularly! My first Google Review! I can't speak highly enough of this place. Very clean, inviting, bright, competitive prices, and extremely well maintained. Customer service that knocks your socks off. Joanne, Humberto and Jeremy are great. I decided to store my belongings with this facility because they advertise their caring customer service such as providing free boxes and the use of a free truck if needed. I called ahead to determine if they had any available units on the first floor and to get an idea of their prices. It all sounded too good to be true. It was even better! Not only did they offer free boxes but they also offered free tape and a free lock. They showed me several units on the first floor that were very clean and the size I needed. The price was what they had quoted over the phone and in addition when I got stuck and my own box broke one of the staff jumped in to assist without hesitation. The facility is very clean, the staff is polite and helpful, the prices are reasonable and when I was resting on a bench in their office before leaving one of the staff heard me breathing hard and brought me a bottle of water. I was truly impressed with their service. A few things to prepare for in advance – like most facilities there is an additional administrative fee and a charge for insurance. The insurance fee is waved if you bring a copy of your home insurance. Also if you plan to use the free truck, which is fairly large, you must show your driver’s license and your auto insurance. They perform an inspection of the truck with you before they release it to insure that you are not charged for any previous damage and you must return the truck with a full tank of gas as you have when it is released to you. Sunday hours are shorter and no one is allowed in after the office closes. To insure that security is tight there are cameras everywhere. There is ample and convent parking and plenty of flatbeds and dollies as well. You won’t be disappointed with this facility. Their customer service is over the top no exaggeration.

The best storage place in Chicago. So clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Their hours make sense. It’s simply the best. I only used them for three months while I was moving apartments, but I’d definitely return.

The BEST storage place with the most accommodating staff! I keep both wine there, as well as an 8x10 unit for furniture and items I inherited after my parents passed away. They were incredibly accommodating with being able to adjust smaller units to a larger ones when another truck of items needed to arrive. They let us use the large loading dock to sort the items into piles. They are communicative about changes, and have all the items there you need (dollys, locks, etc). I can't recommend them enough if you need storage in the city.

BEST wine storage in Chicago! This is a hidden gem in Old Town. Everything you can ask for in off site wine storage with excellent customer service. Joanna and Humberto are incredibly helpful and make for a wonderful experience. Humberto helped me find the perfect unit and then went above and beyond by setting up shelving and designing the perfect cellar set up (see first picture for end result). Both Joanna and Humberto have offered first class service on every interaction and even stayed late after close to help me set up the cellar. All units are very clean and spacious with a cool old Chicago vibe. They have recently expanded and offering brand new wooden units. I’ve tested temp and humidity independently and consistently comes out to 55 degrees with 65% humidity. Look no further if you are in need of wine storage!!

I rarely review businesses, and this one is long overdue; but when service is this great, you want to make sure to spread the good news. Joanne and Umberto are among the best customer service professionals I have ever encountered. I have had a storage unit at CNS for several months now, and every time I call or show up, they go out of their way to be helpful, kind and enthusiastic. When I mentioned I was preparing to sell my condo, they offered to supply me with boxes, tape and anything else I might need. When I needed a second storage unit to house my embarrassingly massive collection of stuff, they not only helped me select the perfect one, but freshly repainted it and made sure it looked beautiful and clean for my move in. And when I could not move said stuff into the unit for several months due to circumstances beyond my control, they held the unit for me....for months...even though it was in demand and they could have been collecting the rent elsewhere. And finally, when my place took so long to sell that I ended up not needing the second unit at all, they would not accept back rent from me to make up for all that lost time and their lost profits. Simply put, these people are wonderful, their facilities are top notch, and there is no need in looking any further. Use CNS!!!

Excellent facility and the staff are incredible. I was in a pretty awful situation and they helped me out so much - I mean they even helped me move in! Joanne always greets me with the kindest smile and goes out of her way to help out with doors or any way she can and Humberto literally helped me move out of my apartment. On weekends, Jeremy works the elevator and he'll wait for me if I'll be quick. I cannot speak highly enough of them! My monthly unit came with up to 5 free moving boxes, free move in truck, and even a free lock. The facility is clean, well cared for and I love that it's only open during supervised hours!

Great facilities and customer service. The building is clean and Joanne and Humberto couldn’t have been more helpful. I retrieved an antique settee from my storage locker and when I came out of the bathroom I saw Joanne running fast to the entrance area. I was afraid there was a shooter or something and when I asked her what happened she said she was trying to beat me! I was like what? She was trying to vacuum my settee before I got out of the bathroom!! She vacuumed it for me without my ever asking her to. Very sweet. Talk about above and beyond! Humberto helped my son get it into the back seat of my car. I’d give them ten stars if I could!!

Renting a wine storage locker in the basement, Umberto helped get me all set up with custom shelving to fit my space and everyone else working there is very friendly too. Great service and I'd definitely recommend this place for temperature/humidity-controlled wine storage!

Wow...customer service at it's finest! My landlord rented a storage unit for us in order to store some items while they staged our place for pictures.
