RV & Boat Storage Tips
Selecting the right storage unit for your boat or RV is just the start (hint: it’s US Storage Centers!). Here are some helpful guidelines to follow for protecting your prized vehicles.
Clean and Prepare
- Before storing, give your boat or RV a thorough cleaning to prevent any potential damage or deterioration. Also remove perishable items and secure loose belongings.
Check for Leaks
- Ensure there are no leaks from your vehicle, which can lead to mold and mildew. If any are discovered, fix them before storing.
Winterize
- If you're storing during the winter, make sure to winterize engines and plumbing systems to protect against freezing temperatures.
Use Covers
- Invest in quality covers for your boat or RV. This will offer protection from the elements and keep them in good condition over time.
Stabilize Tires
- If your RV is on wheels, consider using tire stabilizers to prevent flat spots and keep the tires in good condition during storage.
Conduct Checkups
- It’s helpful to check on your boat or RV periodically, even when in storage. This allows you to identify and address any issues before they become more significant.
Properly Ventilate
- Ensure there's adequate ventilation in the storage unit (if enclosed) to prevent the buildup of moisture, which can lead to mold and mildew.
Secure Batteries
- Disconnect and remove batteries and store them in a cool, dry place. Also consider using a battery maintainer, which can extend the life of your battery.
Documentation
- Keep all relevant documentation in a secure place, including insurance, registration, and maintenance records. This will be handy when you need to access it.
Remember, a little extra care during the storage period goes a long way in preserving the condition of your boat or RV for future adventures!
