Rotating Out My Lawn and Garden Care Supplies

When you live in Massachusetts and have a garden, you quickly find that the tools you need during one season are completely different from the tools you need in another. In the winter, for instance, I use my snow blower more than anything else. It's not really a garden tool, I guess, but I like to think of it as my mower for the wintertime season! In the summer, it's all about the mower and trimmer and other gardening supplies.

I used to have a home with a large garage where it wasn't an issue to keep all these things at once, but I recently downsized into a much smaller home with a smaller garage area. Because of this, I really only have room in my garage for one season's worth of lawn and garden care equipment and supplies. Instead of getting rid of things or hiring someone to do my summer lawn care, which I really enjoy, actually, I decided to just get a self storage unit where I could rotate my lawn and garden care supplies by season.

So I looked into different Natick Self Storage locations, and I came across US Storage Centers Natick Self Storage. The Natick Self Storage location was really perfect for my needs for a few reasons. Here's why I chose it as opposed to other area storage locations:

Location: The location of the Natick Self Storage facility is close to my new home, which is great. If I'm going to keep necessities like my mower and snow blower there at times, I need to be able to get to those things as soon as I need them. After all, that first snowfall of winter can sneak up on you without much warning, and you need your snow blower one day after mowing the lawn the day before!

Accessibility: Besides just being close, though ,the US Storage Centers Natick Self Storage location was accessible. The location required a gate code combination to get in the gate, and they have extended gate hours, so I can go almost any time in the evenings, during the days, or even on weekends to get things out of or put things into my storage unit. Again, I never know when I'm going to need some of the stuff that I've got in storage, so it's important to me that I be able to get into and out of storage very quickly.

Price: As a retiree, it was important to me to save money on my storage unit if possible. Now, storing my lawn and garden supplies so that I can use them in season rather than paying someone else to take care of my yard and garden is definitely a cheaper option. However, I was looking to get the most bang for my buck that I possibly could, and I definitely found that with US Storage Centers Natick Self Storage.

Why I Recommend Document Self Storage to My Business Clients

My job as a professional organizer has led me to many interesting places, and I've dealt with all sorts of people who are having all sorts of different issues and problems with organization. About half of my business deals with business organization. Often times, I just need to whip a couple of closets into shape so that a small business has more room for storing their office essentials. Sometimes, though, it's more complicated than that, and sometimes, there just isn't any space left.

When I deal with a business who is having trouble coming up with enough space, if I can't come up with that space for them through better organization, I'll often recommend that they get a small self storage unit to keep many of their business documents in. The location I recommend is always US Storage Centers Natick Self Storage for business clients who are in the area, and there are several reasons that I recommend this particular Natick Self Storage location.

Why use self storage

Self storage through a place like US Storage Centers Natick Self Storage is the perfect solution for many businesses for several reasons. For one thing, it's affordable because they can budget for just the amount of space they need. You'd be amazed at how many office suites and business complexes don't come with enough closet space for storing business essentials. The businesses that need just an extra closet for storing older files can use a small self storage unit that's about the size of a closet. They get just the amount of extra space they need, which doesn't cost much and which saves them time and money in the long run.

Also, businesses can be surprisingly lax about the security of their physical files. While today's businesses will go to the ends of the earth to protect their digital files, their physical files are often left to be accessed by anyone who can get into their offices, including new employees, employees on their way out, and even cleaning service people! With a Natick Self Storage unit, a business can get its files out of the office and can limit access to those files even more, which helps keep information theft and other problems from affecting the business.

Of course, as an organizer, I also like what off site storage through a place like US Storage Centers Natick Self Storage can do for a business's level of organization. A self storage unit can help a business be more intentional about organizing files because it's not as easy to just pile them up around the office until they get out of control. Even though you think of businesses as always being organized out of necessity, you'd be amazed at how many businesses, especially smaller operations, have trouble keeping their paperwork in order simply because it's easier to just make piles and stacks!

Natick – Moving My Mother Into a Nursing Home

The process of moving a parent into a nursing home is never a simple one, and it was no different when my family decided that my mother needed to go into a nursing home last year. While there were many details for the my brothers and sisters and I to sort out, I was left with the task of finding storage for mother's large items until we could decide what, exactly, to do with them.

So, I looked around at different Natick Self Storage options that were close to the home my mother was living in at the time. That's when I came across US Storage Centers Natick Self Storage. The location was great, so I decided to talk with the manager about the different storage options to see what I could do for my mother's furniture and large electronics.

The manager of the Natick Self Storage location was good at helping me figure out exactly what needed to be done as far as self storage for my mother's home. We found the perfect unit size that would allow me to store the furniture with just enough space without paying for a bunch of extra space we didn't need. Then, the manager of the US Storage Centers Natick Self Storage location took customer service a step further by giving me some great furniture storage tips to help me ensure that mother's furniture was in excellent shape coming out of storage as it had been going into it.

Here are some of the best tips given to me by the US Storage Centers Natick Self Storage manager:

1. Protect from moisture: The absolute most important thing you can do with furniture that's in storage is to protect it from moisture. Moisture is even a problem in units that don't leak, since it can collect when the unit is in a humid climate. Moisture tends to collect on the floor, especially, so one of the best ways to protect against it is to put furniture up on packing pallets covered with plastic, which creates a moisture barrier from the floor. Also, you can protect against moisture by allowing furniture to breathe. You do this by covering it only with cotton, which is breathable, and by leaving a bit of space around each piece of furniture so that air can circulate around it. One final way to protect from moisture is to use oil. A light layer of oil will lock moisture out from wood and metal surfaces and make them less likely to become damaged by slight exposure to moisture.

2. Pack carefully: Just like it's important to pack belongings carefully for a move, it's important to pack them carefully for putting them in storage. Items can often get bumped when going into or coming out of storage, which can cause breaks and nicks. Protect corners with specialized corner protectors made from cardboard, and protect breakable things like glass and lamp bases with bubble wrap.

Storing Up Garage Sale Finds

One of the best ways I know to save on clothes for myself and other stuff is to shop at garage sales. Shopping garage sales for adult clothes is hard, though, but it can be rewarding when you find the exact right thing – or close enough, anyway! Shopping at garage sales for kids, though, is a no brainer. That was actually one of the things I was most excited about when I found out I was pregnant with my first baby. I would get to shop garage sales and, for once, it would be easy to find what I was looking for – for a few years, at least!

The thing with garage sale shopping for babies that my mom taught me, though, is that you have to shop way ahead because you never know what you're going to find. The best way to outfit your kid in nearly all gently used secondhand clothes is to pick them up whenever you find them. Anything that's your style, in good condition, and the right price should go straight home with you, even if your kid won't wear it for a few years. Otherwise, you might get to that size in a few years and discover that you don't have enough clothes!

This is a great strategy, and it means that I'll probably spend a few hundred – as opposed to a few thousand – dollars on my baby's clothes over the first few years of her life! The problem, though, is that I need to find a place to put all those clothes once I get them. I sure don't have room in my home for them, so that's why I ended up getting a Natick Self Storage unit through US Storage Centers.

I looked around at different storage places, but I chose US Storage Centers Natick Self Storage for a few reasons. For one thing, it had great prices. Plus, they ran specials that let me save even more on my first few months of rent. That was nice, since the whole point of the garage sale shopping thing was to save money in the first place. Also, the Natick Self Storage location let me pay my bills online, which was really nice because it meant I didn't have to remember to run a check to the store or mail one in on time each month. I'm really bad about that, so the online payment option was a huge plus for me.
