Self Storage for My Home Business Documents Business documents are the worst when I'm trying to organize my home business. There can just be so much paperwork to deal with that I don't even know where to start. Luckily for me, there are places like US Storage Centers Simi Valley Self Storage, which is the location where I have a self storage unit where I keep all of my business documents. Wondering why I use an off-site location like Simi Valley Self Storage for my home business documents? Here are just a few reasons: More Space For Low Cost When operating a home business in a busy family home, space is at a premium. I mean, even if you have kids and don't have a home business, space in your home is probably at a premium. You've got all your closets stuffed full, and even underbed storage in all the bedrooms in your home! There's just not space for stuff like business documents, even if you have a decent-sized home office. I mean, your home office is all taken up with your desk and printer and computer and chairs and whatever else, so unless you have a really big home office, there's not really space for filing cabinets or other document organization systems. The problem is that there are very rarely homes in a decent, middle-income price range that really do come with room for a large home office with plenty of document storage space. At least, I haven't been able to find one! So for me, the most affordable way to make sure I have room to store my business documents without crowding my entire home is to rent a Simi Valley Self Storage unit. I chose US Storage Centers Simi Valley Self Storage location, in particular, because I found that they offered the greatest value for my hard-earned cash! Getting it Out of the Way Even if you do have some extra space for document storage for a home business, getting stuff out of the way is a good idea. Especially if you have kids running around the house. No matter how much time you spend trying to teach your children that they need to stay out of mommy's or daddy's office, at some point in time, they're probably going to get in there. And unless you've invested in locking file cabinets, you're probably going to come home to a mess – maybe a mess of some of your most important business documentation. Getting those documents out of the house is simply a smart move if you've got little kids about. You can always keep your most valuable documents or the ones you're currently working with in some unreachable location in your home office. But everything else is better off in a Simi Valley Self Storage location. Businesses with employees often use self storage for documents because they want to keep their employees from getting valuable information they don't need to have. I use Simi Valley Self Storage for my business documents simply because I don't want to end up with crayon all over my LLC paperwork! |

Simi Valley – Finding a Place to Keep My Parents' Furniture Last year, my siblings and I had to put both of my parents in an assisted living facility. At least they were able to go together! The process was surprisingly smooth, if a bit emotional. One of the biggest problems we came across was that my parents couldn't take all of their furniture they'd collected over the years with them to assisted living. What were we going to do with it all? Unfortunately, the move came at a very busy time for the entire family. My sister's daughter was getting married that fall, and my own son was graduating from high school in the spring. My brother was starting a new career transition. The whole family was just so busy that we didn't really have time to deal with the furniture question right at that moment. But we had an interested renter for the house already, so we needed to get everything out. So, we agreed on the temporary solution of renting a Simi Valley Self Storage unit through US Storage Centers. My own nuclear family had used a small unit at that particular Simi Valley Self Storage location for years to keep our sporting goods and camping equipment in, so I knew it would be a piece of cake to get a storage unit large enough for my parents' furnishings. I went to talk to the manager right away, and he helped me figure out what size storage unit we'd need. Since my family had always just used the smallest closet-sized unit for a few odds and ends packed in boxes, I had no idea what size unit it would take to get a ton of furniture into storage safely. The Simi Valley Self Storage manager was great at helping me visualize the storage space and figure out how best to store the furniture we needed to get in there. He said that some people overshoot the size of a storage unit for furniture because they think they'll end up setting up the storage unit like an apartment. Really, though, you can break down big pieces of furniture like bed frames and dining room tables. You can stack things up high, and you can also turn pieces on end if it won't hurt them. On the other hand, the Simi Valley Self Storage manager said that some people get a storage unit that's too small because they think they should just cram everything into the smallest amount of space possible to save money. This can cost in the long run, though. Packing the furniture in so that there isn't any breathing room around the pieces or between the furniture and the walls can cause moisture in the air to build up between the pieces of furniture, causing mold and other problems. |
