Keeping Lawn Care Chemicals Well Out of Reach

Of course, all those bags and boxes and bottles of lawn and garden care chemicals say that you should keep them out of reach of children. The problem is that when you have a set of curious twin boys who can climb anything, it's next to impossible to put anything out of their reach!

I mean, as soon as the twins started to toddle around the house, I had to throw out all of our toxic cleaning stuff in favor of natural cleaning items like vinegar that wouldn't hurt them to get into! Unfortunately, it's a lot easier to clean the house naturally than it is to go completely organic with a garden and lawn that you want to look great! So we didn't worry about moving the lawn and garden care chemicals until this year, when the boys are more likely to get into the garage without us knowing it.

Once we decided that we needed to really get the lawn and garden care chemicals well out of reach, we looked into several different options for making that happen. The best option we came up with was to rent an Orange Self Storage unit so that we could keep all the chemicals we needed – just not at our house.

It's a little radical, yes, to rent a storage unit for the toxic stuff in and around our home just so our kids won't get into it. This isn't a forever solution for us, but right now when the boys are really too little to understand exactly what's wrong with getting into the chemicals, we're not taking any chances! At least for this year, our Orange Self Storage unit is the perfect solution that will let us continue to have a great lawn and garden without endangering our kids!

Once I came up with the idea of using an Orange Self Storage unit for storing our toxic lawn and garden chemicals, I looked around for different options in town. That's when I found US Storage Centers Orange Self Storage location. The location was great and right on my husband's way home from work, which was just a bonus. Between the prices and the accessibility, they had us sold!

The prices of the Orange Self Storage units were great to begin with. Add that to the fact that US Storage Centers offers some great discounts for first-time renters and has small units that are, of course, cheaper than your typical garage-sized units, and you end up with a very affordable self storage option, for sure!

Organizing Paperwork for Business Owners

Professional organizing hasn't been around all that long, but it's really great to start a professional organizing business these days. Right now, individuals and businesses have more stuff than they know what to do with, so they need to consult with someone who does know what to do with all their stuff on a regular basis! That's where I come in.

My professional organizing business focuses on working with business owners, in particular, and especially those who are just starting out their businesses and who are looking for an organization solution from the start.

One thing that businesses have the most trouble organizing is paperwork. There's just so much of it when you first go into business that business owners who aren't inherently organized themselves just don't even know where to start. The thing is, that they don't even know the half of it! Not only do they have to keep all that paperwork from the business start up, but they'll have to have a place to keep tax paperwork that's already been filed for years and years after it's been filed and taken care of! Really, it's kind of ridiculous how much paperwork has to be accounted for when it comes to running and maintaining a business.

Anyway, paperwork is where I normally start when organizing for a business, and for many businesses, I almost immediately recommend a storage solution like Orange Self Storage by US Storage Centers. The Orange Self Storage location is a perfect option for most businesses in the area that I work with, and having a self storage unit often makes the entire process of taking care of filing and handling paperwork a whole lot simpler.

There are several reasons that I recommend US Storage Centers Orange Self Storage in particular. Here are a few of them:

They have great customer service

When you're dealing with a storage place where you're going to toss your stuff in storage and leave it there for a few months or years without accessing it again, then having good customer service at your self storage location isn't all that important. But when you're a small business owner who is going to be taking new paperwork over to the storage unit every few days or couple of weeks, customer service is paramount.

I love that US Storage Centers Orange Self Storage has such great customer service! They really know their stuff and get it done, too.

They have low prices

Many of the business owners I'm working with are just starting out, which means they don't really have that much extra cash to be throwing around. So that's another reason I recommend US Storage Centers Orange Self Storage. The location has some great prices. They also offer some really small unit sizes that are just perfect for giving a business owner a little extra space for organizing his taxes without taking up all that much of the budget.

Even the larger units have decent prices for businesses that need to store more than just paperwork, though. Also, the Orange Self Storage location has some good deals for business owners, in particular, as they can pay for long-term storage in advance and score some good discounts.

Orange – Selling Upcycled Furniture

Upcycled furniture is hot right now. Don't know what that is? It's basically furniture that is both recycled and made better with paint, decoupage, resurfacing, repurposing, or lots of other means. As a creative person, I've found that selling upcycled furniture is a great way for me to use my creativity to make a bit of money on the side.

It all started a few years ago when I took an armoire that was in my son's room and did a great upcycling project with it. I painted the armoire dark brown, and then I turned it into a reading nook for my son with a cushion, a light strung through the side, and some cozy wallpaper on the inside. I basically took an outdated piece of furniture and turned it into something cool and new.

My friends all thought it was a fantastic idea, and they started coming to me with project ideas. I tiled the tips of end tables, repainted kitchen chairs, and even tried my hand at reupholstery (which I'll never do again, thank you very much!). After a few projects done just for the love of my friends and my own creative urge, I thought it might be a cool idea to try to sell upcycled furniture on a handmade site like Etsy. So, I started picking up dilapidated, outdated pieces of furniture at garage sales for next to nothing, upcycling them, and selling them online.

Soon, the upcycling thing turned into more than just a part-time gig, and I was able to quit my job to keep it going. The problem, though, was that I was having to upcycle five or six pieces of furniture every month to keep the business flowing. Sometimes everything would sell out really fast, and sometimes, it wouldn't When it didn't, I had nowhere to keep the extra furniture – especially when I did big projects like china cabinets and dining room sets!

So, I checked into Orange Self Storage. I found the US Storage Centers Orange Self Storage location not long after that, and it turned out to be the perfect solution for me. They'd worked with business storage units before, and they had some great things going for them – good security, excellent customer service, various unit sizes, and a month to month lease. I decided to give the Orange Self Storage location a try, and I haven't looked back sense.

Now, once I get finished with a piece of furniture and take photos of it for my Etsy shop, I'll drive it right over to the US Storage Centers Orange Self Storage location to pop it into the storage unit. If I need to ship it later on, I'll go pack it up and get it shipped. (Figuring out shipping when you're in the furniture business is a whole other can of worms!)

Storing Baby Stuff in Orange

Getting Ready to Move

If you told me a year ago that I'd be getting ready to move right after the birth of my second child, I would have told you that you were crazy. Who tries to move with a newborn? Well, because of circumstances unforeseen – I do! My husband and I tried everything to help us get moved before the baby arrived, but it just wasn't happening. We were closing on our new house on my due date, and we were set to move in two weeks after that. Even if the baby decided to come a little early, we would still have an under-one-month-old during our move! Luckily for us, we were able to use a small Orange Self Storage unit to make the move easier with our baby.

At first, we didn't really think about getting an Orange Self Storage unit to make the moving process easier while getting ready for our second baby. But a friend suggested that we look into a storage unit. That way, we would be able to store up the things we were receiving for our child as well as the things we were buying in preparation for her. Instead of having to wait and buy everything after we moved or find room for all that baby stuff in the house we were currently in, we would be able to toss it all into storage until our moving date. It seemed like a good idea, so we checked out different Orange Self Storage locations.

That's when we found the US Storage Centers Orange Self Storage location. The location was perfect – just a few minutes' drive from our home – and it was easy to access. One of the best parts was that the Orange Self Storage location offered month to month leases, so we could rent the unit for just a few months without a penalty. That was just exactly what we needed!

Also, we chose the US Storage Centers Orange Self Storage location because it was affordable. More than anything, we didn't want to spend a fortune on storage. Part of the point of moving for us was to save a bit of money over the long run, even though we were moving into a slightly larger home. We didn't really have a ton of room in our budget, so we were happy to find out that not only was the Orange Self Storage location affordable, but they also ran plenty of specials that would save us even more money in the short term.

One other reason we opted for the US Storage Centers Orange Self Storage location was that it was clean and secure. We knew we wouldn't have to worry about problems like rodents, water damage, or break ins, and that made us feel more secure leaving our stuff in the storage unit.

Getting My Hunting Gear Out of the Way

If you've ever walked through the hunting department of a sporting goods store and wondered what all that stuff was for, I am sure I can probably tell you. I probably have one of everything on all those shelves, since I hunt during every season of the year. It's great to be able to have all the hunting gear I need so I never have to worry about having what it takes to get my game, but it's also a bit of a hassle at times. You see, there's really just not enough room in my home for all the hunting gear I use in a year, which is where my Orange Self Storage unit at US Storage Centers comes into handy.

I haven't always had this much hunting gear, and I've really only started to get into hunting full time in the last couple of years. But when I get into something, I really get into it! Every spare penny I've had in those last two years has gone into buying more guns, ammunition, decoys, tree stands, hunting cameras, and whatever else you can possibly think of for a hunter to have. While I had plenty of money to buy what I needed, I just didn't have enough space to keep it all. It seemed pretty silly to upgrade to a bigger condo just to have a place for my hunting gear, so I checked out self storage units instead.

When I was looking for an Orange Self Storage unit, I had a few things in mind that I was looking for. For instance, I wanted to make sure the Orange Self Storage unit I picked was close enough to home that it would still be convenient to get my hunting gear out when I needed it. I also needed to make sure that the unit was large enough for all my gear to be organized and not lying in piles that would take hours to sort through before every trip. Besides this, I definitely needed to make sure my hunting gear would be secure.

With all this in mind, I searched for a personal storage unit in my area and found exactly what I needed at an Orange Self Storage location called US Storage Centers.

The US Storage Centers Orange Self Storage location was just a few minutes from home, and it had good gate hours so that I could access my hunting gear whenever I needed it. It would be really easy to get my hunting gear together they day before or the day of a trip and to take it back as soon as I was done, so I never had to worry about unloading stuff at home because of restricted gate hours at the storage location I was using.

My Self Storage Story - Orange

Storing My Stuff Between Semesters

One of the hardest things about moving out of my parents' house to go to college was getting used to living with less stuff. I mean, I took a lot of stuff to my dorm room my freshman year, but there was just no room for it all. In the end, I had to send a few boxes back home with my mom and dad because I just couldn't fit all that extra stuff anywhere in my dorm room! Even after whittling down my college supplies, though, I found that I had way more stuff than I knew what to do with at the end of my freshman year. How was I supposed to get it all home in my tiny two-seater car? That's where an Orange Self Storage location called US Storage Centers came in!

It was the end of my freshman year, and I was trying to slowly pack up my dorm room in between scrambling to study for finals and pack in a few last-minute social activities. I knew after packing the first two boxes that I would never get all that stuff home in my car, and I couldn't leave it at school either. My parents weren't about to make the nine-hour drive to come get me from school, either, so I needed a solution for the summer! A friend of mine had used this Orange Self Storage facility before, so I decided to check it out.

I went to visit US Storage Centers Orange Self Storage one afternoon between classes, and I liked what I saw. Not that I had anything super valuable in with my college gear, but, still, I wanted to store my belongings in a place that felt secure, like this storage center did. Plus, the rates for Orange Self Storage were really reasonable, especially since the manger explained I would probably only need a 5x5 closet-sized storage unit as long as I stacked my boxes up to the ceiling. The month to month lease option was great, too, since it meant I could terminate the lease at the end of the summer without having to pay any penalties.
