The City of Long Beach, California encompasses 65.9 square miles with 15.4 miles along the ocean. Long Beach is the 7^th largest city in the State of California and the 39^th largest city in the United States. The weather in Long Beach is moderate year round. In the summer months low clouds and fog may occur overnight but lifts by afternoon. Winter months tend to be rainy.

Based on 2010 Census statistics, the population of Long Beach is 462,257. 

Long Beach home to several high-tech and aerospace industries such as Boeing, Gulfstream Aerospace, The Bragg Companies, Laserfiche, U.S. Epson, Inc., Pioneer Electronics, and Verizon. Other major employers include SCAN Health Plan, Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, St. Mary Medical Center, and Long Beach Unified School District. All existing companies in Long Beach and potential businesses opening in the area would greatly benefit from extra space for storage.

The City of Long Beach offers an incentive program and a tax benefit to attract businesses – the Enterprise Zone and a retail sales tax program.

Long Beach offers an urban Enterprise Zone consisting of 41.4 square miles with the intent to stimulate businesses and employment growth in the area. No matter the type or business or the size of the business, any business operating in this area is eligible for State tax credits and can save thousands of dollars on California income taxes.

Long Beach offers a retail sales tax program for businesses for a period of time necessary to offset construction, improvement costs, or business expansion. With this program the City offers returns to eligible businesses 50% of the sales tax generated by the business in excess of first $50,000 in sales tax. Long Beach also provides a federal contract for qualified small businesses located in distressed areas of the city to employ residents of the area and foster growth. This program is known as HUBZone (Historically Underutilized Business Zone).

The Port of Long Beach is the second busiest container port in the United States shipping of millions of tons of cargo to and from the Pacific Rim countries. The Port of Long Beach produces approximately $100 billion dollars in trade. Rail and truck traffic is heavy bringing cargo to and from the port area. Businesses that are in the process of shipping items or receiving items from the Port of Long Beach could greatly benefit from storage units.

Several freeways run through Long Beach connecting the Los Angeles and Orange County. These freeways include I-405 (San Diego Freeway), I-5 (Golden State/Santa Ana Freeways), I-710 (Long Beach Freeway), I-110 (Harbor Freeway), I-605 (San Gabriel River Freeway), SR 91(Artesia Freeway), SR 22 (Garden Grove Freeway), and SR 1 (Pacific Coast Highway). The heavy rail and truck traffic bringing vast amounts cargo to and from the Port Long Beach is very heavy and bodes well for the area to require self storage space.

The Long Beach Airport (LBG) is relatively small and serves the area and is the West Coast hub for JetBlue Airways. The Long Beach Airport is also the location of a Boeing’s aircraft production facility. Long Beach does not offer international service but the nearby Los Angeles Airport provides international service to the area.

Balboa Studios is located in Long Beach and covers 11 acres. Due to the proximity Los Angeles, Long Beach is often used as site for filming of television shows, movies, and advertisements – yet another industry that is need of secure storage for equipment and wardrobes between filming.

California State University, Long Beach campus has the second largest enrollment of students in the State. Long Beach City College has two campuses one being in Long Beach.
